Learning and Development


 Hello guys, welcome back to my blog. Nice to see those shiny eyes again >▪<. How are you doing today? I hope you guys are doing good😇 

So, guys, now in this post I'm going to tell you about learning and development in TEYL. 

As the tittle has said, this post is going to talk about learning and development. It's about how children learn new concepts and develop new ideas about the world, how adults (parents/carers and teachers) can help children to make the process of learning as succesful as possible, and how they learn to interact with their peers. 


Children is in the phase where they are learning actively cause they are full of curiousity, so in order to direct their curiousity into positive way. Teacher or parents or carers have to be able to provide learning method that suits them.

Children within the same age group may show similar characteristics, but at the same time they are also individuals with differing strengths and preferences as learners. While teachers can benefit from familiarizing themselves with the universal aspects of children's development, it is also important that this is balanced out with focus on the individual child. 

Every child is unique cause each of them have different personality, so we need to teach them with different method to each one them which is suit their personality in order to be able to keep them keep learning. But before deciding the method, the first step that we have to do is to know the personality of the children deeply.

To know their personality can be done by talking to them, observing them, and talking to their parents/carers can help teachers to understand the children they are working with. By incorporating variety into everyday practice, teachers of children can make their lessons full of stimulation for all learner types and intelligences.


Teacher will have to use their best judgement in deciding about the most suitable materials and techniques to fit learners of different ages in different contexts.

Hello, nice to see you again! When teaching English to young learners, all things needed is really different compared to teaching older learners, including the materials.  In teaching young learners, we need to design materials that not only needed or important to be taught, but also we have to consider the readiness of the learners to learn those mateials. No matter how important a certain material needed, if the learners don't ready yet, then it would be useless. Not only in designing the materials, but teacher also need to consider the materials evaluation. We have to avoid a bias evaluation and an unfair materials evaluation. We should evaluate based on the student's position, point of view, inteligence, personality, condition, etc. We shouldn't give the same evaluation for every individual that obviously different one another.

Hello fellas!!! Speaking about assessment, we usually think about grading, scoring, judging. It's about the result of assessing that can be in the form of quality or quantity. Almost everyday in every area in our life, we face that thing that called assessment. It can be assessment in school, assessment in job, etc. In teaching English to young learners we also need that so-called assessment. But in assessing young learners, we need a different way to assess compared to older learners. We need to assess the kids carefully in order to avoid an issue where the toung learners would lose their interest in learning cause in some cases children who got a low grade may lose their motivation in learning. Maybe it's because they have studied really hard, they have given their best, but when they got a low assessment they'll think like their effort is useless.  So, in order to keep them motivated, we shouldn't give only one assessment to achieve the goal. Rituals in School

Hello guys, see you again in this lovely day. Do you guys have rituals that y'all did with your teacher back in school? You know, I mean, it's a kind of habit that you did whether it's before entering the class, during the class, or after the class. I guess you have, don't you?  Cause you know when we're in school, especially in elementery school, we usually had habits like greeted the teacher or kissed the teachers' hands or whatever.  Well, today I'm going to talk about those habits or so-called rituals that I had back in elementary school days.  When I was in elementary school, the rituals we usually did in the morning when we're in the courtyard doing the go-ahead. We usually had a 'sarapan pagi'. Here, the 'sqrapan pagi' is not kind of break fast that people usually have, like having a meal. Here, we did like counting.
