Teaching Grammar and Vocabulary


 

Hiii guysss!!! Welcome back!

So, now, I'm going to talk about teaching vocabulary and grammar in teaching young learners. 

Vocabulary and grammar commonly are the most difficult to learn to when young learners are studying English, even for adult. Seeing this issue we can also conclude that for those who are learning English and find it difficult to learn vocabulary and gramar are not properly taught. Usually their reasons are learning vocabulary and grammar too difficult, boring, etc. So, now we can find out that the key is in the way they learn or in they are being taught.

So, in teaching vocabulary and grammar even if it's for young learners or adult. We as the teacher have to make sure that they are motivated and enjoy the lesson we are taught. How can we make a fun class-atmosphere? 

Well, we have to be able to creat a lively class, we can do it by having a discussion for something that our students are interested in. Like talking about their hobby, favorite food, dreams, ambition, it can be whatever as long as they are interested. 

By so, they'll keep trying to actively participating in class. So, when they start speak up in class, this can be the moment where the teacher as well teaching them vocabulary and grammar. So, when students forget or don't know the words, teacher can give them clue or just let them know the words. This can help them even remember more about the words. And when they speak with a wrong grammar, teacher can correct them right at the time, this can help them to be more practiced and therefore they will be more fluent speaking in a good grammar. Cause people usually more remember about anything from their mistakes.

And also teacher can have a quiz about vocabulary or grammar in the form of games to keep the class enjoyable and give some gifts for the winner so the students become more competitive and because almost all children love gifts😉

Hello, nice to see you again! When teaching English to young learners, all things needed is really different compared to teaching older learners, including the materials.  In teaching young learners, we need to design materials that not only needed or important to be taught, but also we have to consider the readiness of the learners to learn those mateials. No matter how important a certain material needed, if the learners don't ready yet, then it would be useless. Not only in designing the materials, but teacher also need to consider the materials evaluation. We have to avoid a bias evaluation and an unfair materials evaluation. We should evaluate based on the student's position, point of view, inteligence, personality, condition, etc. We shouldn't give the same evaluation for every individual that obviously different one another.

Hello fellas!!! Speaking about assessment, we usually think about grading, scoring, judging. It's about the result of assessing that can be in the form of quality or quantity. Almost everyday in every area in our life, we face that thing that called assessment. It can be assessment in school, assessment in job, etc. In teaching English to young learners we also need that so-called assessment. But in assessing young learners, we need a different way to assess compared to older learners. We need to assess the kids carefully in order to avoid an issue where the toung learners would lose their interest in learning cause in some cases children who got a low grade may lose their motivation in learning. Maybe it's because they have studied really hard, they have given their best, but when they got a low assessment they'll think like their effort is useless.  So, in order to keep them motivated, we shouldn't give only one assessment to achieve the goal. Rituals in School

Hello guys, see you again in this lovely day. Do you guys have rituals that y'all did with your teacher back in school? You know, I mean, it's a kind of habit that you did whether it's before entering the class, during the class, or after the class. I guess you have, don't you?  Cause you know when we're in school, especially in elementery school, we usually had habits like greeted the teacher or kissed the teachers' hands or whatever.  Well, today I'm going to talk about those habits or so-called rituals that I had back in elementary school days.  When I was in elementary school, the rituals we usually did in the morning when we're in the courtyard doing the go-ahead. We usually had a 'sarapan pagi'. Here, the 'sqrapan pagi' is not kind of break fast that people usually have, like having a meal. Here, we did like counting.
